School website for Mavo Centraal
The new school website of Mavo Centraal provides a good impression of what prospective students can expect. But also current students and parents/caretakers can find information on it.
Mavo Centraal - a small and safe school with a route to havo.
At Mavo Centraal, students can start with a 'kader', 'kader/tl', 'mavo', 'mavo/havo', or 'havo' advice. There are first grades with different levels. If you are good at some subjects, you can work at a higher level for one or more subjects. Only at the end of the second year, students receive the final advice for 3 'kader', 3 'mavo', or 3 'havo'. This allows ample time to continue to grow.
School website in style
For Mavo Centraal, we developed a new website. To clearly set up the website's structure, we use a homepage with sub-homepages. The sub-homepages are intended to reach the different target groups: new students, students, parents and/or caretakers, and teachers from primary schools. This way, each target group can easily find the right information on Mavo Centraal's new website.
Human-centered approach
Searching often starts online, via Google. The findability and relevance of your website are very important in this regard. You need to ensure that visitors can find the right information. With our human-centered approach, we prioritize important information and work towards a website structure with clear and organized navigation, an appropriate design, and good findability.
Our approach for schools
Before we start developing the website, we conduct a concept sprint with our clients. The goal of this sprint is to identify the client's requirements and the needs of the various target audiences. We bring together these requirements and needs to create a wireframe, which serves as a blueprint for the website. Once the wireframe is complete, we move on to the design phase.
From concept to design
During the design phase, we determine the appearance of the website, making it clear what the final result will look like. For Mavo Centraal, we chose to incorporate the Mavo Centraal logo in multiple places. Combined with the use of color and large, striking black-and-white photos, the website becomes a beautiful whole.
Mavo/havo classes
Another thing we're really excited about is that Mavo Centraal gives students the opportunity to convert their lower-level advice 'mavo' to a 'havo' advice. During the first year, students have the opportunity to prove themselves in 'mavo/havo' classes to still pursue a 'havo' education. Mavo Centraal has a good cooperation with Lyceum Kralingen and ensures students who qualify for a spot at that school. As a result, Mavo Centraal may have fewer students, but that doesn't matter because the child and its development are the top priority.
Multisite environment
The website of Mavo Centraal is part of a larger whole. It is one of the websites within the multisite environment of LMC-vo. Within this environment, LMC-vo (the school community of which Mavo Centraal is also a part) can manage multiple websites. Each website within this environment shares the same base code, but that doesn't mean the websites look the same. On the contrary, each website has its own design which can also be extended with custom functionalities.
Within the multisite environment, a lot of technology, style, and functionality comes together. By creating specific views for the different websites, it remains clear for users, such as communication staff and content managers. The multisite may be technically complex, but a user does not notice this and only experiences the user-friendliness that we are used to from Umbraco.
